Overview
Gangotri is the main religious places among the four Char Dham pilgrimage circuit, situated in Uttarkashi, is closely related to Goddess Ganga, the river that we know as Ganges. The shrine of Gangotri is situated at an elevation of 3048 mts, amidst sylvan surroundings, constitutes one of the most important pilgrimages for the devout Hindus and emits a highly pious aura.
Gangotri has great significance in Hindu mythology as it is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva was seated when he received the Ganga in his locks. The town is frequented by several devotees, who are willing to pay homage to Goddess Ganga, one of the holiest and revered deities of Hindus. The place is home to a natural Shivling as well that is visible only during winters. People often come here to visit the Gaumukh glacier, which is the source of the Bhagirathi River. This site is extremely popular among adventure lovers as it offers a great trekking experience amidst scenic surroundings.
ITINERARY

1Day 1 Haridwar -Uttarkashi (190 kms/7 hr)
Drive to Uttarkashi. Visit Vishwanath Temple & Others. Check in Hotel. Rest day at leisure. Night Halt. Uttarkashi - Uttarkashi is a small and beautiful town, situated between two rivers; Varuna and Ashi, whose water flow into the Bhagirathi from either side of the town. Elevated, at a height of 1588 meters, this little town is very similar to Kashi and Varanasi, in that it has the same kind of temples and ghats and likewise, a north or 'uttar' facing river.

2Day 2 : Uttarkashi – Ganganani- Gangotri – Harsil – Uttarkashi (120Kms / 05 hrs) round trip
With packed breakfast & post Tea/ Coffee leave for Gangotri early in the morning. Offering prayers & pooja darshan, later drive back to Uttarkashi, en route visit Gangnani & Harsil. Overnight stay at Uttarkashi.

3Day 3 Uttarkashi – Haridwar (190 kms/7 hrs)
After breakfast drive for Haridwar en-route visit the tehri dam , (The Tehri Dam is the tallest dam in India and one of the tallest in the world. It is a multi-purpose rock and earth-fill embankment dam on the Bhagirathi River near Tehri in Uttarakhand It is the primary dam of the THDC India Ltd. and the Tehri hydroelectric complex. Phase 1 was completed in 2006, the Tehri Dam withholds a reservoir for irrigation, municipal water supply and the generation of 1,000 megawatts (1,300,000 hp) of hydroelectricity. The dam's 1,000 MW pumped-storage scheme is currently under construction with expected commissioning in May 2018) after this drive to Rishikesh , (Ram Jhula & Laxman Jhula, Gita Mandir).After sightseeing proceed to Haridwar drop at railway station/airport.
